The San Francisco 49ers could hardly have had worse news ahead of their primetime clash with the Minnesota Vikings, with head coach Kyle Shanahan revealing wide receiver Deebo Samuel is set to miss at least two weeks with a hairline fracture in his shoulder.
Between that news and the status of another key offensive starter being in severe doubt, much of the 49ers' injury report makes for grim reading.
However, there was some good news for San Francisco as the Niners attempt to bounce back from their first defeat of the season with a victory in primetime.

Injury report observations
The 49ers have survived, and indeed thrived, without Samuel as recently as last season, with much of Brock Purdy's initial five-game winning run as a starter taking place when Samuel was out injured.
However, it may be much more difficult for the offense to perform to its usual high standards if All Pro left tackle Trent Williams is not available. Williams battled through his ankle injury in last week's loss to the Cleveland Browns, but Jaylon Moore appears primed to start in his absence.
Moore is the 49ers' swing tackle and has five starts in his career, playing games at both right and left tackle since being drafted in the fifth round in 2021. Despite his prior experience and versatility, the drop-off from Williams figures to be steep.
He will at least have the benefit of a dependable left guard next to him, with Aaron Banks set to play at the end of a week that started with him missing practice through an ankle issue of his own.
Christian McCaffrey's injury was a source of mystery at the start of the week, but the do-it-all running back looks on track to play after finally returning to practice on Saturday.
Both McCaffrey and linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who missed the defeat in Cleveland, will be expected to play, while Isaiah Oliver's recovery from a knee problem relieves a potential headache at slot corner.
