The 49ers were down a starter in Wednesday's practice, but otherwise it was all positive news on the injury front for San Francisco.

Dre Greenlaw was absent from practice with a groin issue Kyle Shanahan described as "wear and tear".

On the other side of the coin, two starters who were limited all last week start the preparations for the Week 2 clash with the Rams in much better shape.

Injury Report observations

A vet day is a regular part of Trent Williams' practice schedule for the week and he might be extra thankful for it after missing a snap in the win over the Steelers following an apparent shot to the ribs.

Starting tight end George Kittle and kick returner Ray-Ray McCloud each played significant roles in Pittsburgh despite being limited all last week. Both were heavily involved in the most spectacular touchdown of a 30-7 win, each providing key blocks for Christian McCaffrey's 65-yard run.

Their designations confirm the strain of playing a full game did not result in any setbacks.
