The San Francisco 49ers' loss to the Cleveland Browns looked as if it could be a particularly expensive one on the injury front. However, San Francisco got good news on a couple of its stars on Monday.

All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams played through an ankle injury in the defeat and had a walking boot on after the game, but further tests revealed he did not suffer a high ankle sprain. He is day to day, as is wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who sustained a shoulder injury in the first quarter and did not return.

The unknown is running back Christian McCaffrey, whom head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed in his Monday conference call is undergoing imaging to determine the exact nature of an oblique/rib injury.

While it is too early in the week to make any sweeping declarations, the news on Williams and Samuel would appear to point to them being in a good position to play on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 given the extra day they have to recover. McCaffrey's odds of playing in that game will obviously remain unclear until the specificity of his injury is revealed.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who missed the loss with a hamstring injury, is expected to return to practice this week.

Safety George Odum, a core special teamer, is day to day with a quad bruise.
