The San Francisco 49ers have already got one look at the son of Hall of Famer Terrell Owens ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, and next week they will get him at their facility.
Matt Barrows of The Athletic reported the 49ers have invited Terique Owens to their local pro day, which is scheduled to be held on April 10.
San Francisco was in attendance when Missouri State receiver Owens participated in Missouri's pro day last month.
His father was a third-round pick of the 49ers and racked up five 1,000-yard seasons for San Francisco. He was named first-team All-Pro three times for the Niners and selected to the Pro Bowl four times during his time with the team before a contentious departure in 2004.
Terique was born in the Bay Area in 1999, qualifying him to be invited to the local pro day.
He is unlikely to replicate his father's draft status following a modest career at an FCS school. However, he did demonstrate big-play upside in 2023, averaging 18.9 yards per reception and scoring four touchdowns in his final season with the Bears.
Owens reportedly ran a 4.51 40-yard dash at the Missouri pro day and also recorded a vertical leap of 38.5 inches, which would put him in the 82nd percentile for wide receivers, and a broad jump of 10ft 4in (69th percentile).
Per Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com, he spoke with the 49ers at that event.
Now he will get the chance to impress them again and, at least for one day, wear the helmet his father did with such distinction. If he stands out in Santa Clara, a return to the Bay as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent could well be on the cards.
