Jauan Jennings went in to the San Francisco 49ers' season finale needing only 77 yards for his first 1,000-yard receiving season.

He ended the game early, just 25 yards shy of that mark.

The Niners wideout was ejected with 6:34 remaining in the second quarter following successive personal foul penalties.

Both flags came on plays where Jennings got into a scuffle with an Arizona player who took exception to his trademark aggressive style of run blocking.

First Jennings got into it with Starling Thomas after the Cardinals corner objected to being driven into the ground. Both players were flagged for offsetting penalties.

On the next play, Sean Murphy-Bunting flipped Jennings to the ground, with the resulting fracas seeing an official hurt after being contacted, with the offsetting flags leading to both players being tossed.

Jennings did not seem too upset by the turn of events, as he made a point of firing up the sizeable contingent of 49ers fans at State Farm Stadium as he left the sideline.

But it undoubtedly will be disappointing for Jennings that a breakout season did not end in a deserved career milestone. Still, at least he found a very fitting way to miss out on the achievement.
