San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk is regarded as the premier player at his position in the NFL, but on Thursday he received recognition not for his talents, but for the manner in which he plays the game.

Juszczyk was selected as one of eight nominees for the 2023 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

The award is given to an NFL player "who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition."

It is voted for by NFL players and is announced as part of the NFL Honors ceremony the week of the Super Bowl.

For Juszczyk, it is the fourth consecutive year in which he has been nominated.

No member of the 49ers has won the award since it inception in 2014.

However, 49ers legend Frank Gore did win the award, the running back doing so during his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts in 2016.

Should he win, Juszczyk would be the first fullback to claim the award.
