Let's be honest, no one saw the way the season ended last year coming. I mean, to lose because you run out of guys to play quarterback sucks, but, there isn't anything you can really do. And sure, the 49ers had a great chance to win that game, but we can't say they would have.
So now it's back to the lab, and time to get right for the 2023 season. You know that now the team is angry, especially because we have heard so many players talk about it in the offseason about how unfair it was. The 49ers used their offseason in the best way by working, fixing some of the issues, and getting right.
But, do we think they can replicate what they did last year, and even be better? One NFL analyst thinks they will have a very similar season by finishing first in the division but having a worse record. Somehow, it's still a better season.
San Francisco 49ers Caesars Win Total: 11.5 (under -140)
Brinson Projected Record: 12-5
Everything depends on Trey Lance's skill set and/or Brock Purdy's baseball injury. Wild to think about Lance and SF expectations this time last year versus now. -Will Brinson, CBS Sports
Brinson has them with a worse record but this time as the number one seed. A lot of that has to do with the worse season he has the Eagles having, which very well could happen with all of the pieces they have lost. But the 49ers also could regress some because of the pieces they have lost. We just don't know.
The one thing that sticks out to me in Brinson's predictions is the Rams going 9-8, which I just don't see happening. I think the 49ers run away with the division title, again. Hey, 12-5 is still really good though, and I would assume those losses come to teams that they should really beat, but some things just didn't go their way.
