The San Francisco 49ers opened the practice window for three players on Monday, with one of the NFL's best rosters perhaps set to get some reinforcements.

Second-year cornerback Samuel Womack III, rookie corner Darrell Luter Jr. and rookie defensive end Robert Beal Jr. were all present at the 49ers' Monday bonus practice after their Week 9 bye.

Luter has been out since before training camp with a bone bruise in his knee and began the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Beal started his rookie year on injured reserve with a designation to return because of a hamstring issue.

Womack was placed on injured reserve ahead of the 49ers' Week 2 win over the Los Angeles Rams because of a knee problem.

The trio returning to practice does not guarantee that any of them will play in the 49ers' remaining games, though the two corners would appear to have better odds of doing so.

San Francisco lacks depth at corner behind its two outside starters, Charvarius Ward, and Deommodore Lenoir, and starting slot Isaiah Oliver.

Oliver has come in for significant criticism having given up eight catches for 71 yards in the Week 8 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Womack possesses inside-out versatility and could potentially step in for Oliver or take one of the outside spots and allow Lenoir to kick inside.

The 49ers have only four corners on their active roster having recently released Anthony Brown. They also cut Kendall Sheffield from the practice squad, indicating at least one of Womack or Luter is part of San Francisco's plans for the rest of the season.

For Beal, who like Luter was selected in the fifth round, the path to playing snaps as a rookie is more difficult. The 49ers already have five defensive ends on the active roster having acquired Chase Young in a trade last week.

Young practiced for the Niners for the first time on Monday. He will likely eventually start across from Nick Bosa and, with Clelin Ferrell, Randy Gregory and Drake Jackson also in the mix, Beal may have to wait until next season to prove himself as a draft steal.
