San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey fumbled on the first drive in the first quarter of Super Bowl LVIII and Nickelodeon's Spongebob-themed broadcast had a lot of fun with it. 

“You have to firmly grasp it,” Patrick Star yelled after McCaffrey's fumble.

"Firmly grasp it!" Spongebob repeated. 

That was McCaffrey's first fumble since Week 7 of the 2023 regular season, nearly four months ago. 

But he up for it by scoring the first touchdown of the game to put the 49ers ahead 10-0 just before the half. 

McCaffrey heads into the locker room with eight carries for 27 yards and a fumble along with five catches for 47 yards and a score through the first two quarters.
