It's all hands on deck for the San Francisco 49ers as they look to keep their season alive on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams.

And they will have a pair of hands they haven't had all season, with linebacker Dre Greenlaw set to make his long-awaited return from the torn Achilles he suffered in Super Bowl 58.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Greenlaw will be activated to the 53-man roster having spent the entire season the PUP list while recovering from the injury he suffered running onto the field during the second quarter of the Niners' Super Bowl defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs. A corresponding move has yet to be reported, but it is likely the Niners will place guard Ben Bartch (ankle) on injured reserve.

San Francisco has missed Greenlaw's sideline-to-sideline speed in pursuit, his play in coverage and his emotional leadership desperately throughout an uneven campaign that has the 49ers 6-7 heading into this critical NFC West clash.

Now he will lineup next to All-Pro running mate Fred Warner, though it is not yet clear whether Greenlaw will be on a pitch count. De'Vondre Campbell has started at WILL linebacker in his stead this season while second-year defender Dee Winters impressed in last week's win over the Chicago Bears.

What kind of impact Greenlaw can have in his first game back from such a long lay-off is debatable, but the emotional lift his presence will provide could be crucial in keeping the 49ers' slim playoff prospects intact.
