The San Francisco 49ers are back on top of the NFC West, and they didn't have to lift a finger.

San Francisco's three-game losing streak prior to their Week 9 bye had dropped them behind the Seattle Seahawks and down to second in the West.

But the Niners are once again at the summit of their division, returning to the top while on the bye as the Baltimore Ravens trounced the Seahawks 37-3.

Seattle's loss dropped them to 5-3, the same record as the 49ers. However, the 49ers move back into first because of their superior divisional record.

The Niners are 2-0 inside the NFC West with wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals. Seattle is 1-1 in the division having lost to the Rams in Week 1 and defeated Arizona in Week 7.

San Francisco and Seattle still have to face each other twice, and will do see in the space of three weeks between Week 12 and Week 14.

Those matchups could well decide whether the 49ers retain the NFC West, but San Francisco will hope the bye, and the blockbuster trade for Chase Young, will prove to be just what they needed to get back to their form of the first five weeks of the season as the Niners look to put daylight between themselves and the Seahawks before their first meeting on November 23.
