49ers rookie who the rest of the NFL forgot about makes game-changing play that propelled San Francisco to season opener win
A big-time play from the young player.
Depth always becomes so important around the NFL. For the San Francisco 49ers, the talent in their secondary will be tested this season. Rookie Marques Sigle wasn’t expected to see a ton of playing time as a rookie when he was drafted in round five of this year’s draft, but that may be the ultimate outcome. He’s simply making too many plays to stay off the field.
Sigle flew under the radar during the NFL Draft process, but now, he is throwing his name into the NFL world around social media.
Marques Sigle recovers pivotal fumble vs. Seahawks
To begin the fourth quarter, disaster struck for the Seahawks. Seattle was moving down the field on offense, but wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba fumbled shortly after making a grab. Sigle scooped it up for the recovery. At the time of the turnover, the Seahawks held a three-point lead.
Sigle made plenty of plays during training camp, and the staff only gained confidence in him during the preseason. They knew that the rest of the league had probably overlooked the young defensive back, and he may be able to make an impact for SF in year one.
The 49ers outscored the Seahawks, 10-3, in the second half. The San Fran defense simply never allowed Seattle to get off the ground through the air or on the ground. Folks will definitely have to give credit to Robert Saleh for tightening up his unit after the first half.
Sigle will continue competing for snaps on defense, but plays like this one will earn him some more credit with his coaching staff and teammates. Being heads up no matter the play can make all of the difference in the world, and Sigle is looking for every opportunity to help the 49ers and prove he can stick around on the roster for quite some time.
Tennessee Volunteers News
The 49ers just slapped former Tennessee WR Jauan Jennings in the face, and it proves they’re taking him for granted
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings will suit up for the San Francisco 49ers in 2025, despite not getting the contract extension he was hoping for. Jennings, who is in the final season of the two-year extension he signed in 2024, expressed his desire for a new contract (or a trade) earlier this summer. […]
