Kalia Davis won't be a part of the San Francisco 49ers' defensive line rotation for Super Bowl 58.

San Francisco did not activate him back to the 53-man roster for the matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, having opened his 21-day practice window prior to the NFC Championship Game. He has been downgraded from questionable to out.

Instead, the 49ers promoted Alex Barrett and T.Y. McGill from the practice squad.

It remains to be seen if either defensive end Barrett or defensive tackle McGill will be involved.

But their promotions give the Niners added depth on a defensive line under huge pressure to perform, particularly against the run, after a pair of at best inconsistent performances in their playoff wins over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
