The San Francisco 49ers have used several different safeties this season, and they are set to hand another his debut for the team.
San Francisco made a pair of elevations from the practice squad ahead of their Week 8 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.
Kicker Anders Carlson will again deputize for the injured Jake Moody, who is still yet to recover from a high ankle sprain.
And, with Talanoa Hufanga on injured reserve and veteran backup George Odum questionable with a knee injury, the 49ers have also elected to elevate Adrian Amos.
Amos was only signed to the practice squad last week, but he is somebody the 49ers can likely count on given his previous experience playing in the same defensive scheme for the New York Jets and the Houston Texans last season.
There is significant doubt over Hufanga's ability to play again this season, though he will wear a cast on his wrist in an attempt to do so. Should he fail, then Amos could be an important depth piece behind young starters Ji'Ayir Brown and Malik Mustpaha. He may not get many defensive snaps on Sunday, but he'll be keen to make a good first impression.
