The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with multiple issues in their WR room to start training camp. Their expected top three WRs all missed the start of camp, and even now only one has been able to practice, that being Ricky Pearsall.
This seems to have led the 49ers to bring in a veteran who has had some success in the NFL in the past in Robbie Chosen, formerly known as Robbie Anderson.

After a successful college career at Temple, Chosen began his NFL career by signing with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2016 season. He spent the first four years of his career in New York, recording 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns in 62 games. He then joined the Carolina Panthers ahead of the 2020 season and had the best single season of his career, recording 95 catches for 1,096 yards.
Since that big year, Chosen hasn’t been able to generate much production. He recorded under 300 yards in three of his four seasons, with the only one above that line coming in 2021, when he had 519 yards. He now joins the 49ers, where he will try to earn a rotational role. With players like Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings still not practicing, there will be plenty of snaps for him to prove to this coaching staff that he belongs. This isn’t a groundbreaking move by the 49ers, but with so much uncertainty surrounding their starting WR duo, they have to get creative at building a competitive room behind them.
