The San Francisco 49ers need wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to play in order for them to reach their goals on offense this season. That's fairly plain and simple, when you consider his latest contract extension. His role is important, and SF needs his talent to be out there to see the best of Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and other pieces to the roster.

Brandon Aiyuk updates injury status and recovery

According to a recent social media post from the 49ers wideout, he's been golfing with George Kittle and Brock Purdy. Aiyuk is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL.

Check out more photos from the golf outing here. The 49ers team website released plenty of them to give fans a look behind the scenes.

Early last month, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan noted that there is a chance that he Aiyuk is ready to play in Week 1 to begin the team's regular season slate.

"I don't know – It's too early to tell. The goal is always early. You hope to have him right away. We were told by his doctor there's a chance. But it's too early in the process and we'll see when we get closer to training camp and see what it looks like."

We will see if Aiyuk can progress enough over the next few months to get back out there as soon as possible for Shanahan's offense in San Francisco.
