The San Francisco 49ers suffered a lot of blows in their heartbreaking loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, though none would be bigger than an injury that forces All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams to miss time.

That scenario looks a possibility after Williams was seen in a walking boot following the 49ers' heartbreaking 19-17 defeat, their first of the season.

Williams suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter after getting rolled up by Browns defensive tackle Shelby Harris. He returned to the game after getting his right ankle taped, however, and played the remainder of a hard-fought contest the 49ers lost when Jake Moody missed a would-be game-winning field goal.

Explaining his decision, Williams revealed he stayed in the game to prevent putting backup Jaylon Moore in an extremely tough position against Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett.

"It didn't feel good at all, I just tried to fight through it for my teammates," said Williams in a post-game press conference.

"They've got a Hall of Fame rusher, I didn't want to put Jaylon in that position."

Despite Williams' admirable show of grit, the 49ers still had immense struggles slowing down the Cleveland pass rush as San Francisco was held to just 3.9 yards per play.

While the specific nature of the injury is still to be revealed, the 49ers will hope Williams will be available for the Week 7 game with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football, when San Francisco will face another excellent edge rusher in Danielle Hunter.
