There has been all kinds of speculation surrounding Brandon Aiyuk's future with the San Francisco 49ers and a weird layer was added to the mix over the weekend.
Top draft prospects and former LSU teammates, Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers, were on Instagram live when Nabers teased Daniels' future draft destination. The video was clipped and it was suggested that Daniels will reunite with his former teammate in Aiyuk after Nabers said we "are never going to believe" where he will go in Round 1 and that he "might be partnering with an old homie" to the 2,000+ viewers watching the stream.
But unless Aiyuk gets traded to wherever Nabers is teasing, it's blatantly obvious Daniels will not be the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. The two players also played only one season together and that was Daniels' freshman year in 2019.
I can't believe I have to say this, but that job clearly belongs to Brock Purdy and it's going to remain his job for the foreseeable future. Also, there's the fact of the matter in which the 9ers would have to pay a massive price in order to trade up and snag Daniels – there's no way in hell that's happening after the disastrous Trey Lance trade. John Lynch would be foolish to trade that much draft capital, again, after getting rid of Lance during his rookie contract.
It makes so much more sense for the tease's reference to be Las Vegas Raiders head coach, Antonio Pierce, who was a member of Arizona State's coaching staff from 2017-2020.
Things get wild this time of year and this is easily one of the wildest and silliest scenarios to pop up. Don't hold your breath on this one.
