Another regular-season game, another win for Brock Purdy as the 49ers began the 2033 season with a crushing 30-7 win over the Steelers.
Purdy was superb in his first game back from offseason elbow surgery and helped the 49ers race to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter. He wasn't asked to do as much in the second half, but he ended the game having completed 19 of his 29 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
With that performance, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to win his first six regular-season starts while throwing two touchdowns in each.
Purdy demonstrated an excellent rapport with one of his favorite weapons from last season, Brandon Aiyuk, who caught both of the 49ers' touchdown receptions and racked up 129 yards on eight catches.
Perhaps most impressive was Purdy's excellent calm under pressure, which saw him continually evade pressure and find open receivers in high-leverage situations on third down.
A road game against the Steelers was seen as a huge test for Purdy in his first game back following that fateful first series in Philadelphia.
It's fair to say he passed it with flying colors.
