Trey Lance is gone, but Brock Purdy might argue the 49ers still have a dual-threat quarterback on the roster.

Hours after the 49ers traded Trey Lance to the Cowboys for a fourth-round pick, the man who essentially ended his hopes of starting for San Francisco led the Niners for the opening two series in their preseason finale with the Chargers.

After an impressive opening drive ended with a Jordan Mason fumble on the goal line, Purdy ensured the second series would get at least six points, scampering into the endzone for a five-yard rushing touchdown.

The extra point was missed with punter Mitch Wishnowsky, handling kicking duties amid injuries to both of the 49ers' kickers.

Purdy finished the game five for nine for 73 yards along with a rushing touchdown that served as a timely reminder of what he can do with his legs when needed.
