Last year, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy donned the head of a Hawkeye costume to a press conference after losing a bet with George Kittle over the annual meeting between Iowa and Iowa State.

This year, it will be Kittle performing a forfeit after Purdy emerged victorious in their wager.

Purdy confirmed in his press conference on Friday that he and Kittle had a bet over the Cy-Hawk Trophy matchup.

And it was Purdy who won it in dramatic fashion as a 54-yard field goal with six seconds remaining gave his alma mater Iowa State a 20-19 triumph.

Asked about the wager, Purdy said with a wry smile: "Yeah we got one… you'll see."

When Kittle does his forfeit might depend on the outcome of the 49ers' season opener against the New York Jets on Monday. Regardless, revenge will be sweet for Purdy after the Cyclones' second win at Kinnick Stadium in three seasons.
