The San Francisco 49ers have one disadvantage for their Week 10 clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in that they have to travel across the country to play in the Eastern timezone in the early window.

It is the only time they have that challenge this season, and it can be argued that it is cancelled out by the substantial advantage the 49ers have in terms of rest.

The 49ers are coming off the bye week, a break they badly needed to get several injured players, chiefly Christian McCaffrey, back to health and back on the field.

By contrast, the Buccaneers, beset by injuries themselves, played on Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

And the Buccaneers only enhanced that advantage for San Francisco by sending that primetime contest to overtime. Tampa Bay had the chance to go for two and win the game in regulation after Baker Mayfield's touchdown pass to Ryan Miller with 30 seconds remaining, however, the Buccaneers eschewed that opportunity and instead kicked the extra point to make it a 24-24 tie.

Kansas City promptly won the toss and scored a game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Tampa Bay, therefore, will go into the game with the Niners dealing with the pain of a dramatic overtime loss that placed the toll of another series on its defense.

One more series may not seem like such a big deal, but what cannot be denied is that the Buccaneers are at a substantial disadvantage as they deal with the headache of recovering and turning the page quickly to a 49ers team that is rested and ready to attack the second half of the season after an underwhelming 4-4 start.

Despite the issues with travel and shift in timezones, the 49ers are the team in the more favorable position heading into a key NFC matchup, boasting a decided advantage they simply cannot afford to waste.
