San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy received an unwavering amount of support from teammates ahead of Super Bowl 58, and this has not changed in the days since the game itself.

Purdy’s performance against the Kansas City Chiefs has garnered mixed reviews. The second-year passer threw one touchdown pass and posted an 89.3 passer rating against Kansas City’s well-rounded defense. He anchored the 49ers offense to a total of five scoring drives in the contest, but it was ultimately not enough to help snap San Francisco’s Super Bowl drought.

Purdy had himself a potent season in what was his first full year anchoring San Francisco’s offense, which is what Christian McCaffrey will remember the most from the passer’s overall campaign.

"I think what he did was historic and unbelievable," McCaffrey said on the 49ers’ locker clean-out day. "I think people know he was a rookie quarterback that was the last pick of the draft, and came in midway through a season, and then had to get elbow surgery in the offseason.

"So his real first year of starting in the NFL, he didn't throw football until training camp. So it's pretty impressive what he managed to do, and then to be the MVP of our team was pretty incredible. Lucky he's on our team."

Purdy led the NFL in multiple stats in the regular season, including in passer rating (113.0). His standout campaign was good enough to earn him a fourth-place finish in the voting for the 2023 NFL MVP award.

All eyes now turn to Purdy’s upcoming third season with the 49ers and whether he will be able to once again elevate his game across the board.
