Another scary injury just happened to the San Francisco 49ers. One of their best players may miss a lot of time after the latest news from their Week 6 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fred Warner suffers a potentially serious injury, ruled out quickly

In the first half against Tampa Bay, superstar linebacker Fred Warner suffered an injury that forced him to be carted off with an air cast around his right leg. It was a gruesome injury that emotionally affected players on both teams.

Warner was ruled out just moments later. That is normally a sign of serious injury, and it could mean a long timetable for Warner’s return, who is playing incredibly well once again this season. Luke Gifford and Tatum Bethune are backups who could see more playing time without Warner on the field. Nick Martin is a rookie linebacker dealing with an injury currently, too.

Losing Warner is similar to losing your quarterback (which San Francisco also has in Brock Purdy) on defense. He’s a leader on and off the field and gets the unit lined up on a play-by-play basis. Warner is the main communicator and playmaker on that side of the ball. He now joins a long list of San Fran players dealing with injuries.

Hits keep coming for talent around 49ers’ roster

The 49ers are already without star tight end George Kittle, Purdy, wideouts Ricky Pearsall and Brandon Aiyuk. Meanwhile, on defense, Warner joins Nick Bosa on the shelf. Those are the unit’s top two pieces. There are multiple injuries keeping key players out of the SF secondary as well.

Simply put, San Francisco cannot catch a break right now. Every time it seems to get a player back, another one goes down. For Warner, it is a painful loss for both sides of the ball for the 49ers.

Hopefully, the All-Pro linebacker can make a full recovery. Check back here for updates on his injury in the coming days.
