Brock Purdy has already laid out what he wants from the San Francisco 49ers this offseason in terms of getting his contract extension resolved quickly.

While general manager John Lynch did not commit to expressly commit to having the same desire to getting what will likely be an extremely lucrative deal tied up before the Niners return for OTAs, both he and head coach Kyle Shanahan made significant statements at their season-ending press conference that emphatically illustrated their commitment to him as the franchise quarterback.

Despite a 2024 campaign in which Purdy was unable to build on an MVP-caliber 2023 season that was a play away from ending in Super Bowl triumph, general manager Lynch said: "What we know about Brock is that he's our guy. We have interest in Brock being around for a long, long time."

Shanahan went further, underlining the importance of having the entire team back for the voluntary OTAs while adding: "Brock is the leader of our team, I've loved these three years with Brock, I plan on being with Brock here the whole time I'm here.

"Brock's been a stud, he's a guy I've got a lot of confidence in and just, as a human, but it starts with what he's done on the field these last two-and-a-half years.

"We're capable of winning a Super Bowl with him. We just almost did, and I know he's capable of getting the Niners a Super Bowl in the future."

Shanahan's words in particular underline the depth of feeling he and seemingly everyone inside the 49er organization has for Purdy.

A more uneven second full season for Purdy, which saw the 49ers post a 6-11 record in a disappointing defense of their NFC title, had led to talk around San Francisco perhaps not being prepared to pay him top of the market money.

What number valuation they put on Purdy in terms of his average annual salary remains to be seen, but what is clear is that 2024 has not created any doubts about their quarterback for the 49er hierarchy. Shanahan and Lynch unequivocally view him as the future of the franchise, it's just a question of how long it takes the 49ers to come up with a deal that adequately reflects their extremely high opinion.
