The San Francisco 49ers won by the skin of their teeth in the divisional round, but they are still heavy favorites for the NFC Championship Game with the Detroit Lions.
Per betonline.ag, the 49ers opened as seven-point favorites over the Lions.
They were 10.5-point favorites against the Packers in the divisional round, yet they needed a last-gasp touchdown from Christian McCaffrey to avoid a massive shock.
And with Deebo Samuel an injury doubt on the offensive side of the ball and the 49ers' defense enduring continued struggles against the run going into a matchup with a dynamic Lions offense that thrives on the ground, there is reason to believe San Francisco's status as a touchdown favorite is misplaced.
But the 49ers were open after the win over the Packers in saying they had gained renewed belief from winning while not playing their best football and prevailing in a 'grimy' game.
The odds of the Niners playing as poorly as they did against Green Bay for a second successive week would appear to be low but, against a Lions team with plenty of momentum after two narrow home playoff wins, the 49ers must play to their well-established standard to ensure they are the NFC's representatives in Super Bowl 58.
