The 49ers have stars all over the roster. However, no position group is stronger than their linebackers.
For years, PFF has spent the offseason ranking the top groups at each position. Recently, they came out with the top linebacker rooms in the league, and to no one's surprise, the 49ers came in at number one.
This is the second consecutive year they claimed the number-one spot, and I doubt anyone is taking that from them anytime soon. Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw make up the best linebacker tandem in the league, and both are just 26 years old.
In PFF's individual linebacker rankings, Warner came in at number one overall, and Greenlaw was not far behind at number eight. Here is what PFF had to say about the group:
The easy choice for the top spot, San Francisco fielded the highest-graded linebacker group in the NFL last season. They finished second in the NFL in run-defense grade (90.7) and led the NFL with an outstanding 88.5 coverage grade.
The 49ers boast two legitimate stars in Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw. Warner is the NFL’s most consistent coverage linebacker and posted a career-high 89.7 run-defense grade this past season, too. Greenlaw had a career year in 2022, earning a 79.6 overall grade bolstered by a nearly 20-point jump in coverage grade.
The Chicago Bears followed the 49ers at number two, and the Baltimore Ravens sat at the number three spot.
