The San Francisco 49ers are already in offseason mode for 2026 following their 41-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round, but starting cornerback Deommodore Lenoir had some business to resolve with the NFL.

Lenoir was fined a whopping $20,944 for head-butting Seahawks wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba after a two-yard rush from Seattle running back Kenneth Walker. Neither Lenoir nor Smith-Njigba were relevant in the play, but the former used his helmet against the latter as a form of retaliation after being pushed in the back.

It makes a bad week for Lenoir so much worse as his playoff game check is about $20,000 lighter because of a simple act, and it’s not the first time he’s had to cough up some money this season.

Deommodore Lenoir faces second fine in the last month

Lenoir, a fifth-round pick by San Francisco from the 2021 NFL Draft, has now been fined a total of five times in his five-year career. He entered this season with three fines on his ledger, and his most recent two have come within the last 30 days.

Lenoir was docked $11,593 during the 49ers’ 48-27 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Dec. 22. He attempted to punch the ball out of Colts running back Johnathan Taylor’s hands, but since Taylor was already ruled down, his punch on the ball was considered “Unnecessary Roughness” by the league and he was flagged for a late hit.

The rise from $11,593 to $20,944 is significant. Lenoir entered this week with $34,645 in career fines. He’s been fined $32,537 in just the last month.

Not exactly how anyone wants to start their offseason.

Lenoir was a first-time team captain in 2025. He amassed 61 tackles five passes defensed, four tackles for loss, and two interceptions in 17 regular season games and starts. He signed a five-year, $89.8 million0 contract extension in 2024, but the $8.52 million he earned in 2025 is set to be the lowest amount he’ll earn in. a single year over the course of the deal.

Lenoir will take home $16.57 million in 2026, unless he runs into more fines along the way.
