For the third year in a row, George Kittle is spearheading Tight End University in Nashville. Tight End University assembles an exceptional gathering of top-tier NFL tight ends, aiming to foster invaluable connections and elevate their on-field performance.
Kittle founded the concept in 2021 with fellow tight ends Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen. Here is what Kittle had to say about the event:
“The tight end position is very unique, You do everything — you run block, pass-pro, you run routes like D.B.s, you have to know coverages, you're pulling, you’re inserting on linebackers, you have to do everything.
“If you don’t have a coach that can explain all of that stuff for you, you’re not going to be great at everything. We just want to give guys more tools in their tool belt so they can go to games, and understand what they are watching on film.”
Kittle founded the concept in 2021 with fellow tight ends Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen.
TEU has experienced remarkable growth, blossoming from 50 tight ends in its inaugural year to an impressive turnout of over 70 in its third installment. However, this gathering goes beyond just tight ends. George Kittle has cleverly utilized this platform to build chemistry among current 49ers teammates and revive connections with former ones.
What might put the biggest smile on 49ers fans' faces is the QBs who were in attendance. While Brock Purdy is still recovering, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold both made appearances. Below is a video of the two of them throwing to various NFL tight ends:
The 49er connections didn't stop there, as many former players were in attendance. Players such as Jordan Matthews, Tyler Kroft, Nick Mullens, and C.J. Beathard all participated in one way or another. Kittle's current teammate Charlie Woerner was also in attendance.
Mullens spoke highly of the reunion:
"It's truly awesome, People ask me about George — what is he actually like, and I tell them whatever you see, he was like that Day 1 of stepping into the Niners building. It's not a show; it's truly who he is. He brings people together and that's a trait that is truly special."
Hopefully, this leads to great chemistry, regardless of who the starting QB is.
