A South Florida native, the San Francisco 49ers' Week 16 game with the Miami Dolphins would be a homecoming for Nick Bosa, but Thursday's injury report suggests he might not be able to make it.

Having made his return from hip and oblique injuries in last week's defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, the defensive end was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report, but now appears to have suffered a setback.

Bosa did not practice on Thursday, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year one of four not to do so.

Joining him were running back Isaac Guerendo, the rookie reportedly expected to miss out because of a hamstring injury, Trent Williams (ankle) and Maliek Collins (illness).

Williams looks set to miss a fifth straight game, head coach Kyle Shanahan having conceded on Wednesday that the All-Pro left tackle's season may well be over. Defensive tackle Collins' absence for a second successive day is a big concern for a 49er defense that is light on the interior of the trenches.

Jaylon Moore, Williams' stand-in for the last four games, was limited with a hip issue that cropped up in the defeat to the Rams, while Dre Greenlaw (Achilles/knee) and rookie safety Malik Mustapha (chest) were given the same designation.

Mustapha missed the Rams game but seems to be in a good stead to make his return, while Greenlaw's potential presence for a second consecutive game following his return from the Achilles tear he suffered in last season's Super Bowl would be a huge boost against a Dolphins team that will look to target the middle of the field consistently.
