San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is in a stable condition after being shot during an attempted robbery.

The incident took place near Union Square in San Francisco.

According to the San Francisco Police Department (h/t Kirsten Moran-Kellar of Fox 40), Pearsall was going to a signing event on Geary St/Market St and was shot through the arm during a struggle for the gun with the suspect, who was attempting to steal his Rolex watch. Both Pearsall and the suspect are in a stable condition at San Francisco General Hospital.

Pearsall was selected by the 49ers with the 31st overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft following an impressive final season with Florida.

A former college teammate of 49ers star wideout Brandon Aiyuk at Arizona State, Pearsall only returned to practice this week having missed much of his first training camp with the team with a shoulder injury.

Pearsall was scheduled to make his NFL debut next Monday when the 49ers host the New York Jets in their season opener. However, his participation in that game will likely now be in significant doubt.
