The San Fransisco 49ers have one of the NFL's best rosters and are coming off their third NFC Championship game appearance in the last four years.
But, recently-acquired Seattle Seahawks linebacker Devin Bush thinks winning the NFC West will be a breeze in 2023.
"I think this is a new opportunity," Bush recently told reporters when asked what his fresh start can do for him. "I think I think it's a great place to play football and just being able to have an opportunity, also, to play next to Bobby Wagner. So I mean, the door is open. I think this division that we're in, we can easily win it. So I mean, it's just a new chapter."
The NFL is all about confidence and it's easy to love Bush's confidence. But it's also easy to see that he's a bit off in his assessment.
The 49ers, as they showed during their 41-23 win over the Seahawks in the Wild Card round, stand in the way of an NFC West title and they aren't going to give one of their biggest rivals any headway when it comes to winning the division.
Sure, the Seahawks are a good team and they have a very good chance to get even better in the 2023 NFL Draft. But that doesn't automatically mean winning the NFC West will be as easy as Bush thinks.
Because not only do the 49ers have one of the NFL's best rosters, they also have one of the best head coaches and coaching staffs, in general. Kyle Shanahan and co. give San Francisco a major advantage over a lot of teams. He is always going to put his team in the best position possible to win games, regardless of what the roster looks like at the time.
Bush's statement is certainly going to make the rounds. Here's to seeing if he can back it up when these two teams face off down the road.
