The San Francisco 49ers' previous Super Bowl matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs did not go according to plan, but there is clearly belief in some corners that they will exact revenge in Super Bowl 58.

San Francisco booked its place in the Super Bowl in utterly remarkable fashion, scoring 27 unanswered second-half points to overturn a 24-7 halftime deficit and prevail 34-31.

While Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs got the better of the 49ers in Miami four years ago, the oddsmakers don't believe the same will happen in Las Vegas.

The 49ers opened as 2.5-point favorites to win the Super Bowl, per The Action Network (h/t ProFootballTalk).

San Francisco has been favored throughout the season, though it failed to cover in each of the dramatic comeback wins over the Green Bay Packers and the Lions.

Having fought so hard to defeat two teams against whom they were heavy favorites, many may have reason to be skeptical of the Niners being favored against Mahomes, and early line movement indicates as such. The 49ers are now only a one-point favorite, per betonline.ag.

But everything the 49ers have produced in the postseason in overcoming extremely slow starts to keep their season alive suggests this could finally be their year for the first time since the 1994 season.

Even against Patrick Mahomes, after two thrilling comebacks, it is impossible to count the Niners out.
