The Super Bowl 58 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs is a familiar one, and it will look exactly the same as it did four years ago from a uniform standpoint.

As players from both teams get some rest this week before traveling to Las Vegas, the NFL confirmed the uniforms each team will wear.

The Chiefs, who are the designated home team, have elected to play in their home reds, meaning the 49ers will wear their road whites, just as they did in the same matchup four years ago in Miami.

That game ended in heartbreak for the Niners as they let a 10-point fourth-quarter lead slip in a 31-20 loss.

Kansas City's win while wearing a non-white uniform was a deviation from the trend in the modern NFL.

Indeed, 16 of the last 19 Super Bowls have been won by the team wearing white.

San Francisco's last Super Bowl triumph in the 1994 season came with the 49ers wearing read, but they donned white for their most emphatic success five years prior, Joe Montana inspiring a 55-10 rout of the Denver Broncos.

Such a final score is highly unlikely this time around, but the 49ers will hope their road uniforms prove lucky as they aim to finally get over the hump and win a sixth Super Bowl title.
