The 49ers have become accustomed to going agonizingly close to winning the Super Bowl in recent years.
They have reached the NFC Championship Game in three of the past four seasons, losing two and suffering defeat in Super Bowl LIV at the hands of Kansas City Chiefs.
But one famous fan believes the pain will stop, with WWE superstar Roman Reigns predicting 2023 will finally be the year the Niners get over the top and win their sixth Lombardi Trophy.
Reigns took ownership of Stephen A. Smith's list of the Top 5 Super Bowl contenders on Tuesday's edition of 'First Take'.
And the 49ers fan did not hesitate to put his squad at the top of the list.
Explaining his decision, Reigns said:
"49ers all the way. It starts with the defense. If you can stop the run, you put the offense in a long third-down situation, and that’s a formula for success every single time. The defense is always there, we run the ball, we have weapons, it’s really just about figuring out the quarterback position, but we have a lot of talent there. I’m really expecting huge things — Super Bowl. Flirting with it for a while now, and I think this is the year."
The reigning WWE and Universal Champion, Reigns is used to getting the job done in the ring. San Francisco will hope his prediction skills are on par with his wrestling abilities and that the Niners are indeed lifting a championship of their own come next February.
