Arriving into a new city can be terrifying for any NFL player. For former New Orleans Saints wideout and stud returner Rashid Shaheed, he is already feeling like he is at home with the Seattle Seahawks.

Rashid Shaheed wants to stick around with Seahawks

The young wideout and returner is on the last year of his current contract. That was a key component to why the Saints were open to trading him before the deadline. With that, there is some inherent risk that the Seahawks only get his services for the back half of this season.

Shaheed made it clear that he would like to stay in Seattle ahead of his first game with the team, though. He understands the role he can play in Klint Kubiak’s offense and provides a skill set that the unit would not currently possess without him.

Shaheed’s game to open his Seattle career wasn’t flashy, but his presence was felt. The Seahawks used him in multiple intriguing ways, including in the backfield as a running back.

Going forward, I am interested to see the sort of targets he gets for Seattle. Shaheed made a killing on play action deep targets with Kubiak last season in New Orleans. He was Derek Carr’s favorite target when they felt like a shot play would work.

Now, with Seattle, he is already endearing himself with the fan base and looking toward the future. We will see if the two sides can get a contract done in the future.
