Cooper Kupp reveals a simple screenshot that helped spark Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX win over Patriots
The Seahawks had recruiters with Kupp in their sights before they ever played in Super Bowl LX.
Veteran talent and leadership is so important in the NFL. For the Seattle Seahawks, wide receiver Cooper Kupp made a major impact on and off the field for Mike Macdonald’s team this past season, on the way to Seattle winning Super Bowl LX over the New England Patriots.
If not for one Seahawks veteran helping sell the situation in Seattle, though, maybe the wideout never joins the now Super Bowl champion at all.
Jarran Reed helped recruit Cooper Kupp to Seattle
Via Kupp’s latest post on X/Twitter, he revealed that defensive lineman Jarran Reed was in his Instagram DMs trying to convince him to join Seattle’s team ahead of the season. Kupp had spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, but their NFC West rival was actively pursuing him to improve their offense.
“Broooo we would love you in Seattle my guy we are building something
special over here” — Reed to Kupp on Instagram
Reed began his career with the Seahawks before spending some time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. He returned to Seattle in 2023, though. Now, that decision has paid off in a massive way.
Kupp made NFL history during Seattle’s Super Bowl LX victory
Kupp became the fourth player in NFL history to win multiple Super Bowls and lead the NFL in receiving yards in a season in his career. While his production won’t jump off the page from this campaign with the Seahawks, his influence on the WR room was evident.
Against the Patriots in the Super Bowl, Kupp totaled six catches for 61 yards on twelve targets.
He also shared a strong sentiment on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold after they hoisted the Lombardi Trophy this past weekend.
“An unbelievable story,” Kupp detailed. “I don’t know if there’s a quarterback in NFL history that’s done what he’s done. To go through the things that he’s had to go through. To believe in himself. To overcome everyone that told him that he wasn’t that guy anymore, that he couldn’t be a starter, that he couldn’t be a productive quarterback, to just come back to work and commit to his process — and then to go out there in the biggest moments this year over and over and over again — to just show up, stand in the pocket, to make the tough throws, managing the game, it’s an unbelievable story.”
Kupp will always be remembered by Seahawks fans. Now, we wait to see what’s next for the experienced pass catcher. He is still under contract with Seattle for two more seasons.
