A defining feature of Geno Smith's Comeback Player of the Year season in 2022 was his incredible accuracy on deep balls.
The Seahawks quarterback delivered a reminder of just how good his ball placement can be during Tuesday's practice.
Smith found DK Metcalf in the corner of the endzone on a rope down the right sideline, the exceptional accuracy negating tremendous coverage from Tre Brown.
The Seattle defense was not happy about an apparent push off from Metcalf at the catch point, which helped him gain the extra breathing room he needed to haul in the pass.
Yet the Seahawks as a whole will be thrilled to see Smith maintaining his remarkable proficiency for putting the ball exactly where it needs to be on low-percentage throws.
Last season, Smith, per NextGen Stats, led the NFL with a completion percentage over expectation on deep passes of 13.2.
With Metcalf's monstrous athleticism making him an extremely imposing downfield threat, he and Smith have the potential to develop the most dynamic deep-ball connection in the NFL.
We will learn a lot more about the Seattle offense when the Seahawks transition from practices to the regular season, but the early signs are Smith and Metcalf's combination will be an extremely potent one in 2023.
Richard Sherman’s post-Seahawks career just took a big turn
He must have buried the hatchet.
