The Seattle Seahawks will have to wait to see their top draft pick make his 2023 NFL season debut.

According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, first-round CB Devon Witherspoon is expected to sit out during the team's Week 1 tilt against the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury. He entered the game listed as questionable after he was limited during the entire practice week due to his hamstring injury. He's been dealing with a hamstring injury for nearly the entire month of August.

The Seahawks appear to be playing it safe with the No. 5 overall pick so that he's on the field for the long haul. Soft tissue injuries can linger if they're not given the proper dosage of rest and recovery time.

Seattle hasn't exactly had good luck to this point in terms of Witherspoon. He missed a portion of training camp due to a contract-related holdout and he's been spending a lot of time on the bench due to injury

Hopefully, the rookie can get on the field in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. They'll need all the help they can get against the fast-rising NFC North squad.
