Rashaad Penny focused on what he never really gave the Seattle Seahawks
The former Seahawks running back is focused on staying healthy in Philadelphia, something he hardly did in Seattle.
Rashaad Penny's career with the Seattle Seahawks was cruel.
For all the talent he possessed as a tantalizing prospect the Seahawks drafted in 2018, he could never stay healthy for long.
Since coming into the league, Penny has amassed a glaring 40 games missed due to injury. In August 2018, Penny required surgery on a broken finger. And then in December of the same year, he missed two games due to a knee strain.
In September 2019, a strained hamstring held Penny out for two games. And in December a grade three tear of his ACL ended his season. 2021 was no better for Penny, he missed a Wild Card round game because of a knee strain. And a calf strain in September led to him missing five games.
His last major injury came in the 2022 season when he broke his Tibia, ending his season in Week 5. Thus, ending his run with the Seahawks.
For all the talent he possessed, Penny couldn't stay healthy long enough to put together a full season's worth of production.
Now, Penny and his injuries become Philadelphia's problem. And apparently, he is going to attempt to shift the narrative surrounding his injury history and on-field production.
Given Penny's history, this is a situation where people will have to see it to believe it. He never was able to give Seattle a healthy season. And though injuries are something no one wants to see, it is hard to believe he can make it through an entire NFL season for one of the league's leading rushing attacks in Philadelphia.
Only time will tell.
