Richard Sherman isn't technically retired from the NFL. However, his broadcasting career started in earnest when he became an analyst for Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football Coverage last season.

And he just took another huge and surprising step in that world.

The Seahawks legend will replace Shannon Sharpe on FS1's 'Undisputed' debate show, according to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post. Sherman will chop it up with Skip Bayless for around 50 to 100 shows a year, predominantly during the NFL season.

It is a stunning move for a player who once famously, and mercilessly, trash talked Bayless during an appearance on ESPN's First Take in 2013.

Sherman told Bayless he had not accomplished anything during his life.

"In my 24 years of life, I’m better at life than you," Sherman said in that exchange.

On that occasion, Bayless was surprisingly reserved in the face of some remarkably stern criticism from a player who was then only entering his third year in the NFL.

Given the nature of his FS1 show, we can expect the back and forth between Bayless and Sherman to be much more bombastic, if considerably less personal.

Of course, Sherman put his previous rivalry with the 49ers aside to sign with San Francisco after leaving the Seahawks in 2018 and went on to help the Niners to a Super Bowl in his second season.

To take on this role, Sherman must have buried the hatchet with Bayless, but there surely will be plenty of fireworks.
