With just one more game remaining until the official end of the 2023 NFL season, most teams are fully in offseason mode.
That includes the Seattle Seahawks, whose fans are now looking toward free agency, and the 2024 NFL Draft.
To prepare all 32 fan bases for the upcoming draft, I published my first two-round mock draft of the cycle, in which the Seahawks landed a day-one starter who is coming off a big week at the Senior Bowl.
Round 1, Pick 16: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon
"The Seahawks only have one pick in this mock after sending their second-round pick to the Giants for Leonard Williams ahead of the trade deadline this past season. It makes it even more important to land a day-one impact player. And I think Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson is exactly that. He can slide in as the Seahawks starting center on day one, and we saw at the Senior Bowl how dominant he can be."
The center position may not be the sexy move fans are hoping for, but I think it could be a great move by the Seahawks. With no second round pick it increased the need for their first round pick to be a day one contributor. And Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson is ready to play right away once he is drafted by an NFL team. The Seahawks still need to find their next franchise QB, but Powers-Johnson will be ready under center for when they make that decison.
Bobby Wagner’s 2024 free agency contract projection
The Seahawks legend can still play at a solid level.
