Per source, the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with fifth-round pick, DL Mike Morris.

The two sides agreed to a four-year deal worth a total of $4,162,076 on Tuesday. The contract also includes a signing bonus totaling $322,076. Morris joins seventh-round selection, RB Kenny McIntosh, as the only draft picks to sign with the Seahawks, so far.

Here are the base salaries of the deal:

  • 2023: $750k
  • 2024: $915k
  • 2025: $1.03M
  • 2026: $1.145M

Morris finished his three-season stint at Michigan with his best year yet, recording 11.0 TFLs and 7.5 sacks on top of three pass deflections and one forced fumble. Those numbers resulted in him winning 2022's Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year Award and earning both a consensus First-Team All-Big Ten selection and a second-team All-American selection.

It'll be interesting to see how Morris fits into the Seahawks defense, since he has the size to both play outside and inside, on certain ocassions. But right now, the thought is he can be a base player that helps set the edge on run downs. He did have a ton of pass-rushing success during his final year at Michigan, but at the same time, his immediate impact as an NFL player better suits him as a run defender, first.

Regardless, the Seahawks now have Morris under contract, which means they can really start figuring out how to best utilize him.
