Some good news has entered the stratosphere for the Seattle Seahawks. While injuries are never ideal, offensive tackle Charles Cross avoided a major ailment. Instead, he recently got a timetable for return that will make most Seahawks fans happy.

Charles Cross has surgery but expected to return before season

The top offensive tackle for the Seahawks was dealing with a dislocated finger until recently. According to Ian Rapoport, Cross underwent surgery to repair the finger, and he’s expected to be ready for the regular season. An outcome that makes sense for both sides.

Cross gets a frustrating injury dealt with, and Seattle should have their key offensive lineman back in the lineup for when games begin to count. For the Seahawks offense, they need their offensive line to be notably better than a season ago. That will start on the interior, and rookie Grey Zabel is projected to start at guard.

As for tackle play, Cross has been quite consistent in recent seasons. If Abraham Lucas can stay healthy this year, it is easy to expect improvements upfront for the Seahawks. Cross has mentioned some increased confidence in their OL unit recently, too.

Hopefully for the player and team, Cross can come back at full health to begin the season. A return in the postseason is also on the table, but Seattle has zero reason to rush their offensive tackle back to the football field. Cross received a 82.5 overall blocking grade, via Pro Football Focus, last season. That ranked tenth in the NFL.
