Seahawks: Derick Hall negotiates historic rookie contract
Seahawks rookie linebacker Derick Hall just negotiated a historic contract for a second-round NFL Draft selection.
Former Auburn linebacker Derick Hall is paving the way for future second-round draft selections.
As reported today, the Seattle Seahawks officially signed Hall to his first NFL contract, according to reports from NFL Network. Per the report, Hall will have 85 percent of his signing bonus paid to him before the start of training camp and will make $100K guaranteed in his fourth year, firsts for second-round draft selections.
It isn't shocking that Hall is one to pave the way for second-round picks. Part of his life philosophy is putting others ahead of himself, especially the team. Now, he is providing a standard for other second-rounders to follow.
"I just try to do what I can to help my team get better in every aspect of my life," Hall said upon arriving in Seattle. "A lot of that is realizing to not really focus on you, but putting the team first and doing whatever you can to put the team before yourself. Whatever that requires, I’m willing to do to be successful.”
With Hall officially signed, the Seahawks now have first-round cornerback Devon Witherspoon and second-round running back Zach Charbonnet left unsigned.
