It is easy to throw away offseason workouts as just another item to check off a list for players leading up to training camp at the end of July and early August.

But 2023 first-round pick, Devon Witherspoon, knows that rookie minicamps and workouts like it represent opportunities to get better each day.

"Everything is about making an impression," Witherspoon said. "It's the first time getting out here with the guys and coaches. And being able to perform in front of them, like I said, you can't take your first impression back. So it's everything."

It is no secret that Witherspoon has an uphill battle until he is completely comfortable functioning as a starting cornerback in the Seattle Seahawks secondary. He will undoubtedly have to learn Pete Carroll's expectations, and tendencies, and then there is also the adjustment of playing against bigger receivers at the NFL level.

But Witherspoon is talented. Almost everything that has been reported regarding Witherspoon around the Seahawks has been positive. They believe in the type of player he is.

It also helps that Witherspoon is saying the right things as well. He is looking at the offseason leading up to his rookie year as a prime opportunity to learn the game in a low-stakes environment that can only expedite his mastering of the cornerback position at the NFL level.
