Seahawks sign former first-round pick overnight
The Seahawks add potential at a position that needs help.
The Seattle Seahawks need help at linebacker, so they went out and got some on Thursday night.
Granted, it's not future Hall of Famer and Seahawk legend Bobby Wagner. The 12s are still awaiting word on how that plays out, but, the 'Hawks have been in communication with Wagner, at least.
Per The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta, the Seahawks signed former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Devin Bush. The Steelers traded up from No. 20 overall to No. 10 in order to take Bush during the 2019 NFL Draft, but Bush never lived up to expectations after a very promising year.
A 2020 ACL tear had a lot to do with that, but Bush also never developed into an all-around linebacker. He struggled against the run and never really made the splash plays expected of him based off his position.
It doesn't mean he's unable to contribute or provide quality depth, however. Per Condotta, the Seahawks gave Bush a one-year deal to prove himself and show what he can do.
At the very worst, he's an experienced, athletic player that can take over while Jordyn Brooks recovers from the torn ACL he suffered toward the end of the 2022 season.
No one is expecting Bush to come in and turn into the playmaker that was envisioned of him when he was drafting. There is certainly a chance he could turn into a solid player with a fresh start, however.
And, right now, that's all the Seahawks need.
