Geno Smith will be active for the Seattle Seahawks in their Monday Night Football clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's anybody's guess who will be under center.
Seattle had seemingly tipped its hand that Smith would miss a second successive game with a groin injury when practice squad quarterback Sean Mannion was elevated to the gameday roster.
That suggested Drew Lock would get his second start after performing admirably in the Seahawks' Week 14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
However, the Seahawks subsequently announced Smith would be active, meaning all three quarterbacks will dress for the game with no indication yet as to who will be the starter.
Speaking on SeattleSports, general manager John Schneider said Smith surprised the Seahawks with how well he moved in pre-game workouts having aggravated the injury in practice this week.
Seattle has lost its last four games to drop to 6-7 and desperately needs to end that skid to have a realistic chance of claiming a Wild Card spot in the NFC playoffs.
That motivation may lead them to risk Smith playing, giving him the chance to attack what is a vulnerable Eagles secondary.
The Seahawks are a four-point underdog at home against the Eagles, who at 10-3 are looking to keep pace with the 49ers (11-3) in the race for the one seed in the NFC. Philadelphia enters on a two-game losing streak but will start quarterback Jalen Hurts despite an illness that led to him traveling separately from the rest of the team to Seattle.
