The Seattle Seahawks reloaded this off-season.
They selected Illinois corner, Devon Witherspoon with the fifth overall pick. They also selected Ohio State wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the 20th overall pick; in addition to the number of free agents they brought in to help.
They do have one position that could still use some help, however. And it needs a lot of help: nose tackle.
The Seahawks did draft Mississippi State defensive tackle Cameron Young in the fourth round, but relying on a day-three pick to be a reliable starter is a risky strategy.
They have Bryan Mone on the roster, but he is recovering from knee surgery. The same can be said for Austin Faoliu. Pete Carroll recently said both players won't be back anytime soon, which leaves a glaring hole on the inside of the defensive line.
To avoid throwing Young to the wolves, the Seahawks might look to add a veteran presence to the room.
Notable names still on the market include Akeim Hicks, Ndamukong Suh, and Linval Joseph.
These three players are all north of 30 years old, and are out of their prime, but what they can provide is critical. They can help the rookie get adapted to the NFL, which will set up Young up for a long and fruitful career. And, they can hold down the positions until the much-needed help in both Mone and Faoliu arrives.
