Seahawks management just earned a league-wide endorsement that should have fans even more excited about Seattle’s hot start
The rest of the NFL’s executives just gave John Schneider and company a major vote of respect.
The Seattle Seahawks are one of the NFL’s most impressive teams in these early chapters of the 2025 season. No, they’re not among the league’s half-dozen remaining undefeated squads. A narrow Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers ended the dreams of a perfect season very early on for Seattle. But hey, it’s only been done once — so better to get the loss out of the way early. Instead, the Seahawks are riding high on consecutive wins against the Steelers and Saints. There’s a roadtrip to Arizona looming tomorrow for a chance for another convincing win against the Cardinals.
What’s most impressive about this start for Seattle is that the team’s rebuild offense has really come to life. Sam Darnold is playing efficiently, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has made a major leap and the vision for a complementary offense to Seattle’s aggressive defense appears well on its way to becoming reality.
The powers that be who oversaw this transition, including general manager John Schneider, appear to have pushed the right buttons. And the league is taking notice. A recent poll of NFL executives by The Athletic’s Jeff Howe saw the Seahawks front office ranked among the league’s best.
Fellow NFL executives vote Seattle Seahawks front office as one of the eight best in the league

“John is a phenomenal human being and really cool person. That extends to the rest of his staff. They’ve got a bunch of really good dudes who work well together. They have freedom of thought. They’re really good evaluators.”

Schneider has held the mantle in Seattle as the general manager since 2010. He oversaw the team’s Super Bowl winning build and has struck gold on more than one occasion with outside the box thinking to find solutions to some of the most important issues in football. That includes the quarterback position, where the team nailed the Russell Wilson pick in the middle rounds, successfully developed and foresaw the transition to Geno Smith and then got creative this year by signing Sam Darnold.
Yet the Seahawks have not really been a pipeline for opportunities for other executives to earn their own gigs moving forward. Perhaps that should change in the years ahead, especially if the moves the Seahawks have made this offseason to overhaul the entire offense end up taking hold. Such a success story would be the latest notice for the league that Seattle’s decision makers and football operation are content to march to the beat of their own drum and have been consistently successful in doing so.
There are plenty of chapters left in this 2025 season for the results to declare themselves. But both the early returns and the public opinion of their league colleagues seems to suggest there’s confidence that Seattle has in fact gotten it right once again.
